This Sustainable Fashion Week, Bespoke Alterations Oxford invites you to join us for a series of events celebrating sustainability, creativity, and the art of making and mending.
Textile Moth Brooch Workshop
Date: Sunday 27 September | Time: 1pm–4pm
Location: Makespace, Aristotle House, Oxford
Make your very own fabric moth brooch using rescued textiles, vintage threads, and salvaged embellishments.
You'll learn how to hand-sew your textile art moth onto a brooch pin with guidance from the team at Bespoke Alterations Oxford. We will explore ways of using similar embellishments to customise and decorate clothing and other textiles or even disguise small holes, marks, and signs of wear.

Get to Know Your Sewing Machine
Date: Sunday 27 September | Time: 11am–1pm
Location: Makespace, Aristotle House, Oxford
Got a sewing machine but no idea where to start? Or perhaps you've been sewing for a while but there are still a few mysterious buttons, stitches, and settings.
This hands-on session is all about helping you get confident with your own machine. Advice and guidance will be tailored according to your needs.
We can help tackle common problems such as threading and tension issues. Or perhaps you want to discover the purpose of different stitches and settings. Get help and advice so that your sewing machine can become one of the most useful tools in your sustainable wardrobe.

Repair, Mend & Make It Your Own
Date: Sunday 4 October | Time: 11am–3:30pm
Location: Makespace, Aristotle House, Oxford
Got a favourite piece of clothing that’s seen better days? A small hole, a worn patch, a missing button?
Bring it along to our friendly, informal drop-in session to learn some creative textile repair techniques to fix your clothes yourself.
Tools, equipment, and a selection of sustainably sourced threads, fabrics, and embellishments will be provided along with advice and guidance from the Bespoke Alterations team.
Explore creative mending and customization techniques including:
🧵 Embroidery - use decorative stitching to repair and embellish worn areas
🧵 Patching - learn how to reinforce holes and damaged fabric
🧵 Visible mending - turn repairs into something beautiful and make a feature of the fix
Running alongside the Autumn Market at Makespace, this is a relaxed opportunity to meet other makers, pick up some new skills, and discover just how satisfying it can be to repair rather than replace.
